I'm trying to figure out what AF/KLM policy is when one of the legs of a multi-stop itinerary is cancelled. This relates
to another thread from last month, as I'm in a very similar situation with my routing, but that person just paid to change their flight routing in advance.
6 tickets booked using Flying Blue miles. These were booked as separate itineraries (one way tickets) for flights in September.
SLC - AMS - LED
SVO - CDG - SFO
We would love to still take these flights, but my expectation is that the flights into and out of Russia will ultimately be cancelled, although probably not for a few more months. What I'm trying to figure out is what the policy is in relation to cancelled legs. We'd gladly do a trip through Europe for a couple of weeks if we can as well. So, if the AMS - LED leg is cancelled, can we still fly the SLC - AMS leg or will they cancel everything? Similarly for the SVO - CDG - SFO itinerary: just fly CDG - SFO when SVO - CDG is cancelled?
Could we rebook? Possibly, but cancelling and rebooking isn't really likely as I'm trying to get 6 people in business class on that booking, and I'd expect that the points cost will be through the roof at this point (it certainly is when I search on or around our dates). I haven't called in and talked to an agent yet, but my understanding is that they probably don't have any options at the moment unless those flights get cancelled right away. Looking at options for those that are more familiar with AF/KLM policies for cancelled legs and the remaining flights.
