I think you’re a bit confused - it was the Avros that had the half height overheads, as the wing was there! I fit my 56cm Rimowa (max size) above row 12 (the overwing exit) on an E190 on the way back from BER the other day with no issues. IME the only problem with getting a full size onto an Embraer is row 1 and a bit of row 2 where the fuselage narrows ever so slightly.
