Good for you, welcome to the club. I’m in the same boat with Cap One, I think of it as a sour grapes sort of thing. I never trim credit lines, it’s a debatable strategy, think my chances are better with possible anticipated recon call to reallocate credit limits vs recon call to explain other possible reasons for decline.

Yes … but (FWIW): When I got to 1/24 almost 2 years ago it was at a time when Chase was perceived as being stingy with biz approvals. I was instantly approved for 2 Chase biz cards the same day, had to call recon for a 3rd Chase (personal) approval that day; clearly that experience is an exception. I waited 6-7 months for my next Chase biz application and now allow at least 6 weeks (vice 30 days) between Chase biz applications. For my last few Chase applications I’ve fully expected “pending” and a pre-emptive recon call (an hour or 2 after applying) but I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with instant approvals with healthy credit limits so my strategy seems to be working.
I also wouldn’t go to 5/24 for “the best” offer, I’d stay at 3/24 or 4/24 until a significantly amazing offer. For my (SUB) addiction I’m concerned once at 5/24 it would be too painful to go through withdrawal (to get back under 5/24) again, I’d be tempted to forget about 5/24 and hope for approvals from other issuers or inadvertently miscalculate and end up with a non-negotiable rejection. Chase been bery bery good to me and I’m not going to look that gift horse in the mouth, even for a moment.

I didn’t state that very well. It’s possible (if below 5/24) to “churn” a Hyatt and a IHG SUB once every 12 months with applications for the “same” (biz or personal) card being once every 24.5 months by applying for the personal card or the biz card about once a year and closing at 13-21 months. Same theory applies to Chase UA Club personal and biz cards.
