In wasn’t and am not looking for a 48 hour guarantee. I expect is that after a reservation is made (and accepted!) to receive more than a ‘you’re canceled’ email.
Most of my travel is same day / last minute and shopping around for a room isn’t unknown. Many times I’ve arrived at a hotel and been politely inform that they where overbooked and their system shouldn’t have taken the reservation and they assisted me in finding a room. The property’s handling and the total lack of concern is a problem for me.
