Jumping on this thread, but what about dropping the last two nights of a five night points stay (with cash upgrade)? Will Marriott or the hotel just drop the last two nights and hold the rate?

Both the cash and points amounts have shot sky high, so rebooking doesn’t make sense. But I’d love to save the cash for nights 4-5 and get 85K points back.
