Because this looks like a voluntary re-route then they may say that compensation is not due; you don't arrive at IAH so therefore there is no delayed arrival, compared to the cancelled ticket...
Any flight to IAH would have caused me to lose a half a day in BUD (by flying to AMS the night before) and having a total travel time of 26hrs+.

My final destination is MSY, so either IAH or ATL is an easy connection.
