Hi, My wife are planning to fly on UA 2: SIN-SFO (14h 50m!!) with a lap infant (6-months old). I called the res agent post booking to request the bassinet seat and they have put in a request in our PNR.

I was told that the final seat assignment will happen at the airport. I was wondering if anyone can shed light on how the seats are assigned?

1. Do they block any bassinet seats at all from the beginning or try to sell them through out the booking process?
2. Assuming I was the first one to call and put in the request for the bassinet, do I still need to be the first person at the airport on day of departure to secure the bassinet seats if available?

Being a new parent would love to understand airline policies better and learn any strategies parents here might have found useful.
