Well are you below 5/24 or not? If you are, then use it on the reserve card. I keep a spreadsheet to track this stuff for my wife and I. It would hurt to bypass the 80,000+ SkyPesos regularly on offer for not good reason.
Regarding your companion certificates, just noting that you will not lose any existing ones you have in your account. You are correct about waiting an additional 12 months max for another one vs upgrading (but I suspect you still have a few month wait on your platinum cards anyways). The sign up bonus more than makes up for that wait IMHO.
