Surely this is something you should talk to BA's customer services about before you buy a ticket? And if they do say it is OK, ask them to put a comment in the booking saying that they told you this, in case you have a problem at the airport. You may find it easier to call BA's office in Spain as the UK lines are incredibly busy and people are saying it's much easier to get through to Spain.
