Each and every single time I attempt to the eGates at Manchester Airport I’m asked to go and see a Border Patrol officer at the window. My passport is e-Gate compatible, my photograph resembles me to a T and I am utilising the e-Gate correctly. When I asked the Border Patrol officers I was told in plain English that for reasons they can't disclose I will always need to be manually screened at the window. One officer was kind enough to tell me that four other individuals share my name, and as such manual intervention is required. The logic of this also eludes me as the window queues aren’t filled to the brim with John Smith’s or Jane Does. To boot, this time around when I asked again to verify, I was told my name is categorically not the reason and that they simply can't tell me why.

It does feel a bit like I'm being targeted, and frustrating at that because I don't know why! I'm a British citizen, no criminal history of any kind, etc.

Anyone ran into this before?
