No update since then, and sometime in 2021 service provider was changed from CKGS to VFS.
Is there anything I can do to make sure that my application is not lost in service provider transition, or just wait?
You can contact passport Seva Kendra and ask for status. At a min they will tell you that its in progress
but manage your expectations, since you are dealing with the Indian government
