Not in the UK where I have used the e-gates with no issues on many occasions. However, I did have similar in the USA many years ago where - apparently - there was someone with the same name and DOB as me who was on a watch list with CBP. I was subjected to some rigorous additional questioning at the border including things like my middle name (I don't have one but apparently most Americans do), my SSN (which I didn't have at the time as I wasn't a US resident) and some other stuff that I couldn't answer as I wasn't the other person. There was also a question about my driver's license which cause more bemusement than anything else when I replied that I didn't have one as I don't drive, nor have I ever. I was allowed into the USA and have never had any issues since then. Given that my GE application was successful it's fair to say that CBP are satisfied that I'm who I say I am.
