I doubt all 20,000 need to work the Polaris or PP cabin - only those who complete the training at one of the FA bases should be allowed to work in those cabins, along with passing a CBT exam with recurrent mandatory training as the product evolves. For example as the new menu is prepared for an upcoming cycle, everyone certified to work in Polaris must complete CBT training and exams on how to plate and present each dish.
If United focused just 10% of what ANA requires for service training, the quality level would increase substantially.
I don’t make excuses for a company with the resources to do better, but a lazy attitude to do the absolute minimum.
