Thanks. That's similar to what I expect in general practice. PG unfortunately doesn't sell extra hand luggage and for whatever reason maintain a 5kg 'official' limit.

I think the likes of Air Asia, Tiger, Thai Vietjet, Nok Air, etc. are great for those who do just have a backpack, but it ends up working out a fair amount more expensive if checking in bags too. TG and PG are almost always cheaper if you'll be using your checked luggage allowances. I may not take it now because seems dive shops are closed, but we usually would have 2 sets of dive gear that takes up most of the free checked luggage allowance on TG or PG.
