Fair point - I honestly don't understand why I was upgraded based on the experiences listed in this thread. Even though my stay was just one night, they could have just not upgraded me if they wanted to try to extract extra revenue from me or another guest. Trust me, there's nothing remotely special about me that would lead a property to treat me any better than any other Ambassador member. I'm not going in expecting another suite upgrade next month, but, perhaps, I'll be pleasantly surprised again.
