You are certainly not alone. I'm burning through my points at Hampton inns and then I'm staying at other hotels because I have noticed exactly what you have noticed. Without the free breakfast other non-hilton hotels are usually better deals.

Now you might ask why I do not just continues staying at hamptons. True to Hilton form, Hamptons are usually more expensive than comparable hotels at other chains.
