I suspect you may be right. The equipment shows as ATR, but not specifically whether they plan to use an ATR 42 or 72 anyway. Managing weight distribution may also have something to do with it.
Glad to hear the hotline was able to help and I have no idea why the social media team made the statements that they made (I've also never used those reps since I don't use those social media anyway, but at least 90% of the time the phone agents have more options for you, so that's probably where you should generally start

Yes, I was assuming I'd have to spend ages waiting to get through as is so often the case with airlines at the moment. So for that not to be the case was definitely a positive. Once we've done the trip I may send them some customer feedback
