Thanks
OhDoctor I didn't think of this as a third party stay (with Hilton and Amex as such close partners) but it is I guess. My biggest gripe is that I replied to the pre-arrival email with a short, clear statement that I expect my Lifetime Diamond benefits to be honored in addition to the FHR benefits and all I got back was the usual reply (e.g we noted your requests). When I arrive at the hotel, the story is no F&B credit for FHR stays, no exceptions. When I grumbled about no F&B credit, I believe the front desk person said that I would still get Hilton points, but we shall see. The full breakfast here is $45 per person plus tax and tip so its not like combining the Amex credit with the Hilton credit would produce a windfall profit. Otherwise the stay here is fine. It's sad to see the places where they split one room into two to make non-suite accommodations. It's annoying that the only refrigerator is the minbar. The bar and restaurant are now open 5-10pm Tues-Sat. Breakfast is every day and isn't bad, the coffee was good, the OJ was fresh squeezed and both were included with the full buffet. No real lobby in this hotel, reminds me of the old Millennium Downtown, small footprint, about 50 floors, about 10 rooms per floor, highest floors have a few larger suites. Technically I did get upgraded to the city view suite from a generic suite, but I'm not sure what that means, as you are surrounded by city. Perhaps all it means is a higher floor.
Update: So the nice people at the Conrad decided to give me the F&B credits as a one-time courtesy. They could see that I was like a kid who thought he had a foolproof plan to get two Easter baskets and then at the last minute the mean adults said "No, only one!". Overall, the Conrad location, room sizes, and services are a good fit for my needs in NY, so I expect to return, but likely with direct bookings. I'll save Amex FHR for non-Hilton properties.
