The problem is an international award that I cannot change online as usual - I think it is b/c JAL changed one of the flights so F is no longer available on the plane (went to 2 class). I may try chat but I think it requires a specially trained agent.
I have never experienced waits longer than 2-4 hours so this really threw me. Plus I am in a country that is a 14 hour time difference. First attempt was in middle of the night US time - so I thought maybe not too many agents working, next was around 9-10 am US time - even longer wait!
Twitter agents are friendly and can sometimes help with very general questions but chat is the way to go with any specific reservation type questions.
