But what I would like to do is to arrange a bottle of champagne or something for them, to make their time in Y more bearable (the poor dears have never flown in J, and despite my best efforts, chose to spend more on the hotel... ).

Can someone suggest the best way of going about this with EK? When I phoned reservations, they didn't seem particularly interested/able to help. I appreciate that this might not be possible, but as ever thought I'd ask for the collective wisdom of my fellow FT'ers before ruling it out completely....

Thanks in advance ^

EDITED: P.s., they're flying from GLA, just in case that makes a difference
You can't ask Resv to put such detailed memos in the reservation. All you can ask is that they put a memo on the reservation to say that they are newly weds going on the honeymoon and first time on EK. That's all. How EK wants to handle is up to them. Don't expect. You may however ask your friends how the trip went, the flight etc. If it was anything memorable, they will tell you... " oooo, we got upgraded." or " they were so nice, they came by to wish us congratulations". Or maybe nothing.
