These comments always are funny to me. The Marriott Starwood merger was incredibly successful for the main constituency that really has skin in the game - shareholders. Having met both CEOs, neither is an idiot (though I believe Linnartz should have gotten the job over Capuano). People need to look at this stuff objectively when making such comments, not purely based on the perceived value they were getting out of the program.
I don't think he's an idiot, but he made clear he doesn't care about customers or is tone deaf in his comments. He also manages a large company with a reputation for terrible IT and seems to have done nothing to fix it. They shouldn't have years old web/app bugs still unfixed, and you shouldn't be afraid of something bad happening if you touch a reservation.
