Excellent and thank you for returning back. Indeed BA somehow issued a defence which seemed to me (and a few others) to be wholly defective and it would have been interesting to have got to court for a judge to query how they managed to get a core detail so wrong. And which in turn meant BA accepted that EC261 was payable, since this defence hinged around a BA service that was irrelevant to your journey but part of the imaginary defence. Either the legal department was so snowed under that they didn't have the time to read your submission properly (which was totally clear) and / or they relied on their own reading of the PNR - which would have led to ending up in Miami if only BA had bothered to reissue the ticket. Or even pick up the telephone. The outcome was I felt fair, even if the process was devoid of any logic. Well done on your considerable persistence and holding BA to account for their failings.
