This happened to me once on a domestic JL flight. Expert Flyer showed an empty seat map until about three days before the flight, and then suddenly two-thirds of the seats were blocked. When I showed up for the flight, it turned out there was a large group of high school students on a school trip. So maybe there is a group booking on the OP's flight.
