This happens quite a lot with connecting flight changes involving changes. (Regardless of the airline.) Recently Thai Airlines did it to me changing a - 2 hour connection to a 26 hour connection which was illegal under their covid rules. The system will eventually pick this up but unfortunately there are many instances of this not happening until check in time. So definitely don't wait until then.
