I have no idea how much the OP claimed to pay for the flight, but have seen lots of flights at a similar distance price out at $1,000 recently. And personally think that someone who pays for F (whether with cash, or points or by having elite status) on a flight over an hour should receive at least peanuts. Even Southwest offers this in coach.
