FYI I came through transit security at LHR a few weeks ago and you don't need a BP -- just an itinerary / proof of onward journey -- as when I fly Gulf Air to Bahrain it is not possible to get a BP in advance... Gulf Air uses the gates next to UA at LHR -- and I was at the UC within 30 minutes of landing -- most of it on the worlds longest walk to security and then back...
Interesting. I am at LHR monthly, either thru transit or arriving into the UK to remain, and for each and every instance of transit I have been asked for a boarding pass at the transit immigrations up the escalator from the security area. Admittedly, I don't fly GF.
