This is true. I got upgraded to the Ambassador Suite in September 2019. Twas quite special. Except for the construction at 8am right outside the master bedroom window. Needless to say, I didn't end up paying for it.
I don't think it's needless to say, at all. My experience is that comping is not all that common in Paris.
