Booked biz class tickets on LH via Amex because they were $200 less. Schedule changes, as can be expected when you book far in advance. Change does not work for me. Investigate options and call with alternative flight plan in hand. First call to Amex is over 30 minutes and I give up and tell the agent I have to go a doctor's appointment. The agent simply couldn't understand the issue. Call back today and am on with a second agent for almost an hour. They have to check all the rules, etc. Then have to see if my proposal is acceptable, etc. Tells me they'll waive the change fee due to the schedule change but I have to pay the difference in fare. I really think this is wrong but I'm flying LH so maybe the rules are different in the EU. Okay, what's the difference in fare? Over $5000!!! I tell her to change nothing. I call LH directly, sit on hold 14 minutes, then speak with an agent who makes the change in less than five minutes with no fee and difference in fare. The headaches were not worth the $200 savings. I'll never book a flight with Amex travel again.
