The staff called someone and told me my baggage would be offloaded, without letting me in the security area.

I was trying to explain that I can try to get to the fast track, but he says that's in vain as they blocked my access to the security area. What frustrated me is that I later found out the flight actually left the gate almost 35 minutes late after departure.

I tried to call BA/Avios as there's no ticketing service desk at LHR. What's my recourse for reimbursing the Avios.

Departures

The Departures area is located on the top floor of Terminal 5. You must meet the following times, or you will not be allowed to travel.
  • Check-in closes 60 minutes before long haul flights depart and 45 minutes before short haul flights depart.
  • Pass through security at least 35 minutes before your flight departs.
I suspect ths was also mentioned in something specific to your booking

You missed the 35 minute cut off. if your flight was from a B or C gate there is every possibility you would have missed the final call/flight closing anyway by leaving it so late to enter security
