On Mar 26th 2022 the CAAC reported in their 6th press conference, that the part found in Yatang was identified as trailing edge of a winglet of the crashed aircraft. Another piece of debris was found about 2.3km north of the debris at Yatang in Lixiu Village. The arc-shaped object is being examined and identified.
That is pretty wired. AFAIK, all parts of the wings are designed to sustain a severe amount of sudden stress to ensure that during heavy weather and conditions nothing breaks. What can cause this to break? Either a sudden and extreme movement of the plane or material fatigue in combination with a change of pressure. I am wondering if it would be possible at all to move the plane in such way that those parts can break off. If it really turns out that the later one is the cause for break - even though not the reason for the crash - then this will surely have quite some impact on the industry.
