There's zero choice unfortunately. Every single carrier that flies domestic in Thailand is 5 or 7 kg. I guess you can stay in America if you refuse to fly them. Nearly all non-US carriers have weight limits on carry-ons but not so many actually enforce it in practice.
And neither do they enforce it most times in Asia. I flew took 3 Air Asia flights from between the last week of February and the first week of March. They did not weight it even when I asked if they want me to weight it. It was a normal sized hand luggage, If someone is carrying a huge back pack they may ask you to weigh it. By the way the allowed weight is 7 kgs but you can also purchase extra hand carried weight. I think up to 10 kgs.
