I have moved my household spend to my wife's card, and changed my statement date to the day before the "cancelled" service appears monthly, to simplify my monthly dispute.
As a reputable service provider, it is highly unlikely UA will persist in claiming the charge was valid after you have documented evidence of telling them you were not on the flight.
I know it's a hassle, but why not change your card number? I just had one of the infamous "SiriusXM" issues with charges that won't stop, and my bank printed a new card on the spot and put a "carry-over" block on the account so existing subscription recurring charges cannot move automatically to the new card, they will be declined. It's a hassle, but probably less of one that dealing with a monthly chargeback.
