Twice I was assured that my bag had been transfered to my new Germany destination. It was, but not put on the flight. Miraculously, 6 hours after arriving, with no more TK (Or Sunturk etc) flights for the day, my bag arrived.
That's the one thing I always worry about with the long layovers that I encounter at IST.
As the OP's transfer is over 24 hours, his bags would not be checked through. He would need to collect bags in IST and recheck them.
