Mr. CE met friends at our favorite deli for dinner last night and brought home a chicken salad sandwich for me. You can toss out whatever you imagine when you read "chicken salad sandwich" because this is not that chicken salad sandwich. (Unless you happened to be imagining the Roxy from Bat 17 in Evanston, in which case you'd be right.) It's two slices of buttered, toasted sourdough that are each about 1" thick, plus another inch of chicken salad made with big chunks of house-made rotisserie chicken, and, for good measure, some bacon. (Picture below is not mine -- just copied it off the internet.) Anyway, it's an amazing sandwich, and huge, so I rarely eat half of it in one sitting. In addition to being delicious, it also is fantastic leftover -- I remove the chicken salad, and put the bread and bacon in the toaster oven to re-crisp, then eat for lunch. Oh, and their onion strings are perfection, and remain crispy even after sitting in the fridge overnight. I love Bat 17.
