Through-check luggage possible on separate SQ tickets? Any "transiting" issues?
My husband will be flying on the following flights:
  • KUL - SIN, paid flight
  • SIN - JFK, award flight
My questions:

1. At KUL, would it be possible to ask the agent to through-check his luggage all the way to JFK?

2. In addition, because the tickets are separate, would there be any issues "transiting" through SIN from KUL? I understand that Singapore is reopening its borders to all fully vaccinated travelers (which we are) from April 1st, 2022, but I'm wondering if my husband would encounter any issues if he's going to "transit" in SIN on separate tickets as listed above.

I would have tried calling customer service instead of asking here, but it has been a pain trying to get a hold of any live agent.
