ask for something. Conversely, you are of course right to point out that one alarm going off at 5AM likely isn't the end of the world but the issue persisting for four hours is another story. I think where OP tripped up was in accepting the upgrade because that's the bargain they struck with the hotel. Now they're coming back to the table to ask for more and that smacks of greediness.
