I've had fire alarms go off in hotels I'm in a handful of times over the years. I've never requested compensation because I'd rather the alarm sound accidentally when not needed than not sound when needed. That said, I have no problem requesting compensation for hot water not working, A/C not working, room smelling like smoke, and all manner of other service failures.
