Had the card since the tail-end of the Starwood days, but given $450 fee I wasn't seeing the value any longer. It was, at best, a breakeven since the $300 + free night was worth $400-450 to me. With the recent devaluation of the points credits, it was only a useful card for Marriott stays. Getting 2 Marriott points/dollar on other purchases is worth well less than 1% to me, and I have other cards that provide 2% or more per dollar.

In 2018 and 2019, I probably spent $25-30k a year on the card, but in 2021 it might have been $4k.

Had they offered something reasonable, I would have kept the card, but they offered only the downgrade to the $95 card -- that was a hard pass for me.
