The other consideration between change vs. cancel/rebook with credits is that I'd assume the later option may preclude any future refund option for irrops/significant schedule change (obviously one could still get a UA credit) or any credit card related protections (e.g. trip delay/baggage delay coverage). Assuming original itinerary was booked with "new" funds from CC.
