I'm guessing your X1 Extreme is a couple years old if only a 105w brick stock. Current gen with RTX 3xxx series graphics cards start at 230w now because the high power draw of the video card (115-150 watt depending on which RTX model), and Legions have gone from 230w (previous gen w/ RTX 2xxx) to 300w (w/ RTX 3xxx). The brick is ridiculously huge (and heavy). I guess for the OP, depends what generation his Alienware is, because like Lenovo, they don't throttle the wattage of the graphics card like Gigabyte and MSI do on their gaming systems.
Yep, 2018 model. I like that the X1Xs have become really powerful, but I wonder how they deal with the heat from these beefier GPUs.
