but you don't know what the other conditions were at the time they got those rides, and really you don't even know the conditions at the times you didn't get the ride, other than the time of your own personal connection.

there are a lot more variables at play. plus you're dealing with selection bias (the very small number of people who get rides post about it all the time, the huge number of people who don't get rides very rarely post about it)
