I'm confused here. An ticket with no segments flown, when cancelled is a FFC and that can be combined on the payment page as a credit. Do not start with the FFC and do a reschedule, that does have limitations.
That's exactly what I did. The cancelled tickets were shown as FFC on the payment page, but when trying to use them I got the same "We are unable to process your request" as @
ricohitman, and multiple agents claimed that cancelled tickets are NOT FFC.
Perhaps this is a recent change. I'm pretty sure I've combined multiple cancelled tickets in a single purchase before.
