I know this was a question purported to be "serious", ie "practical" and "meaningful." When in reality it is a question that really doesn't make any sense.
Who travels nowadays just by exploring, without looking anything up about the place in advance, without reading any reviews or blogs about it?
What does it mean to "fall" for a meme redemption? I presume the poster meant getting scammed. But the only thing that can mean, if one were being rational about it, is that someone goes to a place they didn't want to just cause it is a good value of points. Which FTers do all the time.

I am unclear how someone can actually want to go somewhere without having heard about it. If you pick a random place on the map, are you excited to go? If you know nothing about it? That makes almost nobody excited (maybe 1 person I know would be excited).
Does "actually wanted to go" mean you were born with an instinct to go to a place? Like how salmon go back to the river where they were born? I'm not sure how that applies to humans, who aren't salmon.

Anyway, for those who are on the fence about staying here. Not sure how good the food is (because not everything is open right now), if you look at the walls carefully, you will see cracks and breaks and imperfections, which I think you will find in almost any place in Vietnam. There are mosquitoes, even though I'm sure they spray to try to get rid of them (when you have so much greenery and the jungle is right behind you, I'm not sure how that is avoidable). But the thought and design behind this hotel is way beyond anywhere I've stayed before. It is a big property, but isn't just meant to be grand. The theme is of an university (it is called a myth, and years ago they would email you proactively after you booked and describe the myth to you), and if you like to pay attention to details and look for easter eggs plenty abound.
The turquoise suite I had was in the shell building. If you go out onto the balcony you overlook the pool, which is shaped like a shell. The light covers in the living room are shells. There are ornamental sculptures, made of many little shells. The scientific drawings are of shells.
The desk at the front of the hotel where you get dropped off has old bells on top. I don't know how many Vietnamese know the term "bell desk" though.

I cannot appreciate antiques (stayed in a plantation in the South before, at breakfast other guests were commenting on this or that desk from this era, all I knew is the furniture was old and creaky) but I think I can appreciate thoughtful design. This place is a creation, the theme of Lamarck University (which is not real, by the way) is carried so well throughout.

In short, I would say whether this is a place you should stay at depends on your tastes. If you eat something and say, "wow, I don't like the taste, but I've never thought of this dish in this way before", then this place is for you.
