Went to the Histopath location at Millers Point (The Rocks) yesterday. The testing itself was fine, but the way they handled it made the whole thing somewhat pointless...
I arrived around 2pm, without a booking. They made me scan a QR code which took me to a website where I registered, entered passport details, and paid (A$59 for a Rapid test). This gave a barcode, which they then scanned, did the test (dual nasal swab Rapid test), and I was out the door a minute later.
I was told the results would come though at either 7pm or 10pm that night. They actually came through at a little after 6pm (negative!)
The problems were in the process. At no point did they check my ID. They scanned the bar code and asked my name, but that was it. It would have been trivial to have someone else complete the test on my behalf. The results stated that the sample was collected at 17:25 Sydney time - a full 3 hours after it actually was. This obviously made no difference in my case, but still feels wrong. Obviously if you were flying that day the delay to get the results would make it too slow (I'm presuming all results come through at night), so the airport location would be the right option there.
From a United perspective, no issues uploading the results to their Travel Ready Center, and a few hours later they confirmed me as good to go and I could check-in online. I skipped the check-in counter at the airport, and didn't need to actually show the results to anyone.
