Flying from Hong Kong to East Coast of United States can easily escape the Russian airspace, but return to Hong Kong gets more difficult as it flies through the North Pole into Russia and then China. Korean Air recently rerouted its East Coast United States flights via a stop in Alaska, so it's like going back to the good old days.
