Will I be allowed to remain in the sterile transit area to avoid going through immigration at SCL? What is required to be allowed into the sterile international transit area at SCL?
My main concern is how I will get my boarding pass. I'm hoping to be able to get it through online checkin with on American, but if not, I don't know what I will do and if I will even be allowed into the international departures area without going through immigration.
Any recent experiences or advice appreciated.
I'd expect that you won't have an issue using the Int'l to Int'l transit security. I saw a sign for it in the new terminal. Note that the new International Terminal opened a few weeks ago, and I've never properly been through it as an arrivals facility - just for covid processing on the way to the old building in December.
Bigger issue is getting on the plane @ EZE - you need to be armed with your transit plans, and hope the agent permits you on the plane without all the Chile entry protocol having been completed. Also note that if you're not familiar with LATAM, especially if you're flying behind the curtain, do not be surprised if your slightly oversized or barely overweight hand luggage is pulled, and won't be checked through.
