You made an error, which is entirely your fault. And you complain you didn't get your refund back after a week? And btw, I have made pre-paid reservations at Marriott but the hotel didn't charge me until I checked-in. So it goes both ways on who's "keeping" the money.
The OP apparently read the cancellation policy. The OP didn't likely understand the difference between Guarantee and Deposit. I've seen "Deposit" (which I almost typed Despot - kind of similar, no ) which I've also seen under not "special" types of rates.

1) Completely reasonable to go to your Point of Sale for the refund
2) Completely reasonably to expect the refund in a reasonable amount of time (which doesn't mean instant)
