The Thompson is much nicer from a hard product perspective. The service is also great. I prefer the more traditional breakfast at the GH, though - menu is more standard and with more choices. The GH is nice, but the poor water pressure was an issue. Both are on the Riverwalk, but the Thompson is much further from the tourist center (but closer to Pearl Brewery with restaurants).
The Thompson is a nicer hotel, but the GH is nice, too, in all aspects but water pressure.
