Frankly I don’t care, and it’s not really relevant to the purpose of this topic which is to provide reliable, up to date information on BA’s implementation of their new and evolving mask policy.

BA is simply responding to worldwide relaxation of the legal requirements in certain countries and adapting its policy to comply with whatever mask mandate is in play in an effort to give its passengers a choice on mask-wearing.
