The app wasn't available for my region so I had to download the APK-file and hack-install it, then I had to create an account, then I had to add my credit card information, then I had to figure out how the app works (it's NOT intuitive!), then I had to watch the instruction video and read the instructions very carefully to come to the conclusion that I needed to add a virtual card).
That's very obnoxious of them - I only recently discovered the app when I learned about the BART app and virtual cards. Normally I end up with a bunch of partially used cards that I have a hard time keeping track of. Making it easy for people to obtain and set up the app before they arrive in town is a really useful thing.
Or both LA Metro and BART could do what Portland Trimet does and just use Apple/Android/Samsung pay without a separate app. It even automatically maxes out at the day pass price if you do multiple rides.
